March 2012 Newsletter

The 4th Annual Burt Lake Ice Fishing Tournament on March 3, 2011 was cancelled due to the winter storm that hit Northern Michigan.  The board met prior to the event and decided the forecast would not allow us to host a safe tournament.  We would like to thank our sponsors for their generosity in helping us with this tournament--Maple Bay Marine, Pat and Gary’s Party Store,  Carquest (I.R., Onaway, Cheboygan), and Huron Distributors/Budweiser.  All entry fees have been returned to anglers who pre-registered.  We look forward to having this event again next year and hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate.

Please note the following DNR regulations that will apply for two of our tournament dates:

Little Bay de Noc (Delta Co.): No more than one (1) walleye over 23” may

be possessed in daily limit north of a line drawn from Peninsula Point

Lighthouse to the mouth of the Ford River.

Mullett Lake:  The daily possession limit for walleye is 3.

We will discuss at our spring meeting how these regulations will apply to us and answer any questions club members may have.

2012 Membership Fees

If you still need to pay your membership fee for this season please mail the attached membership form and your payment to Scott Landon  PO Box 1218 Indian River, MI 49749.  You can also pay your membership fee at the April spring meeting. 

Our Spring Meeting will be held April 18th at Maple Bay Marine at 6:30 pm.  We will be serving refreshments and will discuss several topics for the 2012 season including membership fee collection, launch site information, the Inland Waterway tagging program, voting for 2013 tournament locations, and several others.  We will also have new club t-shirts available for sale.
