For the last weekend of walleye season, I debated whether I wanted to go to Little Bay or Saginaw Bay.  But with less than stellar reports and deteriorating ice conditions on Saginaw Bay, I opted for Little Bay De Noc.  Had a great stay and got a good report from Kevin at Sallmar Resort.  Saturday morning I managed just one fish, but Saturday afternoon brought in lots of fish and I wound up going 9 for 10.  The highlight was the last fish of the day.  I knew right away that it was big from the huge mark on the graph.  Unfortunately, it would give chase sometimes but just wouldn't hit.  I must have played this fish for an agonizing and tense 6-7 minutes before she finally hit.  I didn't get a weight or measure on her as I was rushing to get a photo before getting her back down the hole.  

In typical walleye fashion, I went out Sunday morning and fished out of the same holes and got skunked.  Lots of fish coming in but no bites.  I went back out for the evening bite and landed a fiesty smallmouth and went 2 for 3 on walleye. 

All fish came on #7 jigging raps.  I had a tip-up down about 18 hours over the weekend and it never released.


Great weather, great fishing, great friends...Little Bay made my last weekend on the ice the best one of the season!
