Well after an unproductive opening day of deer season, it was nice to get back out on the water yesterday evening. Unfortunately, the fishing wasn't much better than the hunting. We started off in the deep water along with a couple of other boats. After an hour we only managed 1 keeper walleye and 2 undersized walleye. Before dark we headed back into the Maple Bay area and trolled large cranks hoping to pick up some big walleyes or some pike. After trolling for an hour or so we only managed a 13 inch perch and 30 inch northern.
Water temps hovering in that 46 degree pre turnover stage. It might be the last trip of the year for me. Oh well, bring on the ice I guess...........
