Northern Lakes Walleye Club

January 2013 Newsletter

Happy New Year  club members!

The NLWC welcomes new board members: Pat Keiser (VP), Mark Jacobs (Secretary), and Mike Saker (trustee).  Thanks go out to exiting board members Gail Scharfee, Scott Landon, and Don Schlappi for their service to the club.

Our 5th annual Burt Lake Icefishing Tournament will be held on March 2, 2013.  This year in addition to our past year’s prizes we will also be giving away a Fishtrap Nanook for our 2nd chance drawing.  We will also be having raffles for a Jiffy power auger, a Nu-Way Stove, and a Johnson Outdoors rod and reel package.  If you are interested in volunteering to help with the event, feel free to contact a board member.  More info. is available on the website and we will post advertisements locally on February 1st.

Congratulations to our team of the year, Todd Schryer & Gail Scharfee who earned a Cabela’s NTC spot for the National Team Championship held in conjunction with the Master’s Walleye Circuit.  The event will be contested on the St. Mary’s River on August 22-24, 2013.  Our club has submitted our numbers to the Walleye Federation who are now deciding how any additional spots will be allocated after initial registration.  If we do receive additional spots they will be offered to last year’s teams in order of 2012 standings.  For those who are interested in fishing the MWC side of the tournament, registration has now started.
