                       April 2011 Newsletter

Even though spring may not quite yet be in the air, we are now just a month away from our first event at Saginaw Bay.  With the lakes now opening up, it’s time to get ready for the open water season by getting your boat and gear in order again.  If you haven’t already, don’t forget to get your 2011 fishing license. 

Thanks to all club members who were able to attend our spring meeting last month.  The club would also like to thank Neil Godby, Senior Fisheries Biologist with the MDNR for speaking with our group regarding the 2011 Inland Waterway Survey and Jaw Tagging Program which in now underway.  Mr. Godby also mentioned that there are plans to improve the boat launch at Maple Bay.  There is a public open house tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 3, at Burt Township Hall to share the schematics and plans for the launch and to get feedback from the public.

Our club will again this year be affiliated with a great group of sponsors.  If you know of any sponsors that would like donate to our club, please contact a board member asap so we can make arrangements to get them on our banners for the 2011 season.

We are looking to go as paperless as possible with our future newsletters.  This will be the last newsletter the we will mail to you unless you contact the Secretary, Scott Landon and request it.

Please help to promote our club and recruit new members or bring back some teams from the past.  We look forward to seeing each of you at our events this year and appreciate your continued support, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.

The May newsletter will be coming out early next month and will give directions to the DNR launch at the mouth of Saginaw River along with any other instructions.
